The freebies of the past couple of days which also included a free hour-long Origins facial in the treatment room today at Boots. Quite chuffed with what I have received:

A nice surprise freebie today: a Le Volume de Chanel mascara. I think it's from Stylelist last week but... They describe it as a "luxury sample". It's basically half size which considering it's £30 for the full size I'm more than happy

Look out for things like the one posted by Bougheyrm before this post. This is a good way to get to know staff in shops. You express an interest and ask about other events they run. Get your name on their mailing list and ask them to call you if they are doing anything special. When you participate in some kind of consultation there is usually a freebie to take home. If not, be bold and ask.

Remember that assistant are there to sell their products and you need to be firm about not purchasing something that doesn't really interest you. Think beforehand what you might consider purchasing (something you have wanted for a while) and stick to that. With consultations for new products, I am direct with staff and say that I will not purchase a product that I have only tried at the counter and applied by the assistant. I need to try it myself over a few days. This usually encourages them to offer something to try.
